Clinical Engineering/Biomedical Engineering Benchmarking

Abstract

Starting with a brief introduction to Benchmarking, this session will demonstrate practical methods of measuring CE department performance. ECRI Institute's global experience will be used as an example along with practical experience from a large hospital. There will be a guided discussion of benchmarking focusing on IPM intervals and staffing analysis. Challenges to using benchmarking to improve the performance of a clinical engineering department will also be discussed.
